Students of Balla Secondary School have written to elected member of Mayo County Council to highlight an urgent safety issue near the school.
The absence of a pedestrian crossing is affecting the accessibility of all students, particularly those who use wheelchairs and have mobility issues.
Local Fine Gael Councillor Cyril Burke says this issues has been raised a number of times with Mayo County Council and he understands the concerns of the students at Balla secondary school.
Cllr. Burke says there is high volumes of traffic passing through Balla and urgent attention is needed to deal with the safety concerns highlighted.
