Main street in Ballinrobe has reopened to traffic this afternoon following a fatal collision yesterday evening.

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses following the collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

Shortly after 6.30pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at Main Street, Ballinrobe.

The pedestrian (a man aged in his 60’s) was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

His body has been removed to Mayo General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

A man (aged in his 30’s) has been arrested in connection with the incident, and has since been released without charge.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 7pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
