Powerful winds are on their way for the west and north of the country this afternoon.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow - wind warning - for Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal.

It says we can expect strong and very gusty, west to northwest winds, from 1pm to 9pm.

Possible impacts include falling branches, localised debris, and difficult travelling conditions.
