EU lawmakers will gather with Irish farmers and agricultural specialists to discuss the future of Agriculture in Europe at a special conference in Co. Carlow today.
The modernisation of Agriculture and the sustainability of the sector will be central to the discussions along with securing family farm incomes.
The meeting comes as farmers face their worst year in decades due to the wet weather.
The leader of Fine Gael in the European Parliament Sean Kelly who is organising the meeting says he is confident the government will provide the necessary supports for farmers affected by the weather.
