The three victims of yesterday’s road crash on the N17 near Claremorris have been named as Una Bowden and her daughters, Ciara (14) and Saoirse (9).

The Bowdens lived near Moycullen, Co. Galway.

All three lost their lives when their car collided with an articulated lorry at Castlegar, near Claremorris.

David Bowden, husband of Una and father to Ciara and Saoirse, is travelling back to Ireland.

 Mr Bowden is a project manager with the United Nations and had been working on a humanitarian project in Ethiopia.

Ms Bowden was originally from Co Donegal and lived with her husband in Africa for a number of years before moving to Galway. 

Following the incident, the bodies of the deceased were taken to Mayo University Hospital for postmortem examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
