There are calls for tighter controls on the sale of second hard cars to unlicensed young people.

The new road traffic bill which is currently before the Dail includes changes to speed, limits, penalty points and drug testing.

However Sinn Fein TD for Cork North Central, Thomas Gould, says it also needs to resolve issues where unlicensed drivers are being sold uninsured, sometimes unroadworthy cars.
