A woman in Galway has become the 11th person to die on the roads in 2024.

Gardai and the Road Safety Authority are urging motorists to slow down.

6 drivers, 2 pedestrians, 2 passengers and a motorcyclist have been killed on the roads since the turn of the year.

A woman in her 80s died shortly after ten o'clock yesterday morning in a three car crash on the N17 between the villages of Ballindine and Milltown.

The road which was closed for a time yesterday, has since repened to traffic.

Road Safety Authority figures show 184 people were killed on Irish roads in 2023 - the highest number in almost a decade, and a 19 percent increase compared to 2022.

Both the RSA and Gardai are asking motorists to slow down and drive with caution, especially in icy and tricky conditions, like we're seeing out there this morning.
