A Westport based councillor has raised concerns over the number of people being offered social housing who are refusing homes offered to them.

Councillor Christy Hyland says at a recent development in the county, 50 homes were offered to people on the social housing list, 15 of those offered refused.

Currently. there are almost 1300 people waiting on a social housing list in Mayo, with many more on lists across the region, but councillor Hyland expects that figure to be greater.
