A man was fatally injured in a road collision between an e-scooter and a van in county Sligo yesterday evening.

It happened just after 8 o'clock last night in the townland of Rusheen, Riverstown.

The man, who has not yet been named, was aged in his 50's. He was on an e-scooter when he was hit by a van.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van, a man aged in his 30's, is being treated for minor injuries at Sligo University Hospital.

The L1303 road, the road between Taylor's Cross and Riverstown  is currently closed while a forensic collision investigation is carried out and diversions are in place.

It’s likely the road will remain closed for some hours this morning.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

Anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Rusheen, Riverstown yesterday evening between 7.30pm and 8.15pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
