Work breaks, support groups and lactation consultants are all part of the government's plan to encourage new mothers to breastfeed.

That's according to the HSE's National Breastfeeding Coordinator, Laura McHugh.

She says extending the workplace entitlement to breastfeeding breaks, from six months to two years, enables mothers to return to work while still expressing milk for their babies.
