There was a welcome response from Citylink to Mayo County Council in connection with the provision of a Dublin Airport bus service to Westport.
Westport Independent councillor Christy Hyland had called on the local authority to contact Citylink , after the bus company announced a very welcome new Castlebar to Dublin Airport Route (721), that gets underway from today (Sept 25th)
In response to the request Citylink has written to Mayo County Council stating “I want to assure you that we will aim to add Westport onto the (721) route in the coming months”.The company already provides a Ballina to Galway bus service and stated that it had over 2,000 bookings from people in both the Castlebar and Claremorris regions to Dublin Airport, ahead of providing the new bus link.
Despite the stated commitment to extend the service to Westport, it is likely to take some months to deliver, as any amendment to the new route from Castlebar, must be approved by the National Transport Authority (NTA).
Nonetheless, councillor Hyland told Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley the commitment is very encouraging...
