The Agriculture Minister will meet with farming leaders today after the EU announced new nitrogen limits.
The decision announced by the European Commission yesterday is set to affect around 3,000 Irish dairy farmers from the new year.
It could see them either having to reduce their herds or secure more land if they want to continue operating at their current capacity.
