The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says its services are at crisis point and it badly needs donations.
The charity has taken in almost 700 dogs in the first quarter of this year, and is having to rent kennels for extra space.
It says more innocent animals are being abandoned, abused or neglected than ever before.
