A government TD admits it was "wrong" to reintroduce excise duty on fuel this week.
The price of diesel at the pump rose by 5 cent on Thursday, with petrol increasing by 6 cent.
The tax was cut to help combat the cost of living crisis, and is now being reinstated on a phased basis.
