A Mayo senator has welcomed news from the Minister for Health that a design team is to be appointed to construct a new cancer centre at University Hospital Galway.
Minister Stephen Donnelly made the announcement when he visited the city in recent days.
Fianna Fail Senator Lisa Chambers says that this is the first step in the centre coming to fruition.
The project itself could take years, but Senator Chambers believes the sooner the design team begin working, the sooner we will see it open.
