The pedestrian that died in a road collision in county Offaly in the early hours of yesterday morning, (Sunday), is a county Roscommon native.

The man’s name has not been officially released, however, he is understood to be from the Loughglynn/ Lisacul area .

Gardaí are investigating the fatal incident involving a car and a male pedestrian aged in his 50s, that occurred shortly before 2am at Marshbrook, county Offaly, near the Westmeath boarder.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene

The occupants of the car received medical attention but were not seriously injured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision. They are also appealing to any motorists with camera footage (including dashcam), who were travelling on the R446 between Moate and Horseleap at the time of the collision, to make it available to them.
