"Even in the darkest times, we can find reasons for hope and optimism."
Those are the words of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, who has been speaking at an event celebrating the establishment of Cumann na nGaedheal.
The political party formed government from 1923 to 1932, and later merged to become Fine Gael.
The Taoiseach who is also the Fine Gael President, says despite the challenges the country faces, inspiration can be drawn from the actions of the men and women of Cumann na nGaedheal.
He says "providing stability," which lay at the forefront of its agenda, is a key part of the approach taken by Fine Gael in today's world.
