Transport Infrastructure Ireland have accepted the necessity for a pedestrian crossing to be constructed in Tooreen, according to a local councillor.
Councillor Neil Cruise says the recently refurbished Ruaile Buaile playground has been opened in the village and is on the opposite side of the road to the national school and community centre.
The N83 itself, he says, is a busy road and can be dangerous for children and their parents to cross.
A feasibility and options report was submitted to the TII and they have said that the need is there for such a crossing.
