A Ballyhaunis woman has been nominated to go forward for selection to become the next Fine Gael candidate for the next local election.
It comes as Councillor John Cribbin has decided after 25 years not to contest the next local elections.
Last night, Alma Gallagher was nominated by the local Fine Gael Ballyhaunis Branch to go forward to the selection convention in Autumn, where delegates will vote to ratify a Fine Gael candidate for the next local election.
In a post on social media she says she is looking forward to the coming months and working hard to secure nomination.
