In the interest of safety, it is important that the traffic islands removed on the St Muradech’s side of the Lower Bridge in Ballina, are immediately re-installed.
That’s the view of the Cathaoirleach of Ballina Mark Duffy.
The Independent Councillor raised his concerns at the May monthly meeting of the Ballina Municipal District earlier this week.
The traffic islands were temporarily removed to assist the flow of traffic during last month’s visit of the US President Joe Biden to the town.
Cathoirleach Duffy says the cones now left in their place, are not enough to protect pedestrians and other road users in the busy traffic location.
