A Sligo senior footballer is making headlines off the field this week following his recent marketing award.

Pat Spillane has been named this year’s Young Marketer Award winner by Marketing Institute Ireland.

Spillane is an employee at Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I, who are the owners of some of the nation’s most popular drinks such as Lucozade Sport, Lucozade Energy and Ribena.

In a post on  their social media, Marketing Institute Ireland said that Pat has shown “outstanding expertise within the industry.”

Accenture Song sponsored the award, and Song Ireland Lead Richard Carr presented Pat with the award.

The event took place on Thursday evening at the Clayton Hotel on the Burlington Road in Dublin.

Spillane lines out for Sligo tomorrow in their opening group stage game in the All Ireland Senior Football Championship against Kildare.

Throw in in Markievicz Park is at 2:30PM, and we’ll have updates on Midwest Radio as part of our Sunday Sport programme.
