The woman who lost her life in a road traffic collision on the N5 near Ballaghaderreen on Monday morning will be laid to rest tomorrow.


Geraldine Beirne (née Deehan) from Chestnut Grove, Tulsk, Co Roscommon and late of Scramogue touched the hearts of so many she cared for, according to friends.


The local GAA club, St Barry’s GFC, paid tribute to Geraldine on social media.

“The entire area was shocked and saddened yesterday to hear of the sudden and tragic death of Geraldine Deehan, formerly of Scramog.

“We send our sympathies to Declan, Callum, Maurice and Margaret, to Geraldine’s sister Irene, and to the extended Deehan and Kelly families.”


Geraldine's remains will repose at McHugh’s Funeral Home, Strokestown this evening from 5pm until 8pm.


Removal on tomorrow morning to St Anne’s Church, Scramogue, to arrive for Funeral Mass at 10.30am, followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan at 2pm.
