Iarnród Éireann in Ballina is celebrating 150 years in existence and will celebrate the landmark with the local community this Friday (May 19th).

From 2pm on Friday, there will be live music from local musicians and face painting for the children. Historical photos will be on display and a specially commissioned plaque will be unveiled by local Station Manager, Matthew Garrett and the Customer Experience Manager for the area, Derrick Curran .

Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend.

The Mayor of Ballina, Independent councillor Mark Duffy says it’s fitting to celebrate 150 years and the significant contribution of the railway to the Ballina area, in the year that the town celebrates 300 years in existence.
