Online bank fraud has risen by almost 50 percent in Ireland since before the pandemic.

A new Red C poll published in The Journal today found that 15 percent of Irish people had experienced financial hacking in 2019, compared to 22 percent last year.

The study found Ireland is a particular target for online scammers, as it sits on top of the global list for online phishing.

Phishing is where hackers deceive people into revealing personal information like passwords or trick them into downloading ransomware.
