Midlands North West MEP Maria Walsh has called for Coco’s Law to be rolled out across the EU in an effort to tackle cyber bullying.
Coco’s Law came into effect in 2021, after tireless campaigning by Jackie Fox – whose daughter Nicole took her own life as a result of cyber bullying.
This week the EPP group succeeded in adding a debate to the plenary agenda on criminalizing cyber bullying across the EU.
Coco’s Law criminalized the distribution of intimate images without consent and introduced a jail term of up to seven years for such an offence. It also updated pre existing harassment legislation.
