Patients presenting at hospital emergency departments across the region are facing long wait times.

There are 45 patients waiting on trolleys today at Sligo University Hospital, the third most overcrowded hospital in the country.

34 patients are waiting for a bed at university Hospital Galway and 28 at Mayo University Hospital.

11 patients are waiting at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

Nationally, 560 patients are waiting for beds at Irish Hospitals with the highest figures at University Hospital Limerick, where 84 patients are waiting on trolleys.
