A special meeting of the West Mayo Municipal District was held this morning, regarding the development of greenways.

There is unrest among landowners in the region, and gates have been erected as a result along a section of the new Murrisk Greenway that runs from Croagh Patrick to Bertra Beach.

Midwest News understands that the new gates with the direct message “no access” are forcing users of the walkway/ cycleway back on to the road.

Councillor Peter Flynn was among the members present at this morning’s meeting.
