A US medical device company to locate its new global manufacturing plant in Athenry is good news for the region, according to Mayo based Minister, Dara Calleary
More than a thousand new jobs are being created as Dexcom plans to build a 300 million euro global manufacturing facility in the county Galway town.
The California-headquartered medical device company builds continuous glucose monitoring systems for people with diabetes.
The high-skilled roles will come on stream over the next 5 years.
It will provide about 500 construction jobs while it's being built and up to 1,000 high tech graduate and technician positions.
The new facility is to be located on the IDA land bank in Athenry.
Minister Calleary says it’s a very significant day for the region and told Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley that he is confident that there will be further major announcements in the region shortly….
