A Kiltimagh man will be officially proposed as the candidate to fill the vacant councillor position on Mayo County Council when the authority meets on Monday next.
Adrian Forkan was the unanimous choice when Fianna Fáil members met to ratify a candidate in the Gateway Hotel in Swinford, yesterday evening.
No other candidate was put forward and so he was selected unopposed.
He will replace cllr Michael Smyth who announced his retirement some weeks ago.
Adrian’s candidacy for co-option to the local authority will be on the agenda for Monday's full council meeting for formal approval.
