Trade unions are calling for a new system for young people who take up apprenticeships and other jobs after school, to pay into a pension.
A new auto-enrolment system will see employers pay into a pension scheme for workers aged 23 and over from next year.
But the Irish Congress of Trade unions says the scheme should apply to all full-time workers from 16 years of age.
Head of Social Policy and Employment Affairs at ICTU, Dr Laura Bambrick, says it's important to support young people working in trades.
