US President Joe Biden is set to begin a five-day visit to the island of Ireland in Belfast on 11 April.
According to RTE, he will arrive in Dublin the following day and will depart on 15 April.
During his visit, Mr Biden will meet President Michael D Higgins in Áras an Uachtaráin.
The Taoiseach will host a reception for him at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park in Dublin.
Mr Biden is expected to visit both Louth and Mayo where his ancestors hail from.
Government sources have indicated if the president is to make a public address with large crowds present, it is likely to happen in the west of Ireland.
Details of his itinerary in Northern are expected to be firmed up next week.
The presidential visit to the island will have a strong focus on the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
