There's good news for those hoping to jet off from the west of the country.
Aer Lingus has started a new daily service connecting Ireland West Airport to London Heathrow in Britain.
The first flight took the skies yesterday and landed at Knock at a quarter to 1 in the afternoon.
This included a man flying from Adelaide in Australia, who flew to Ireland West via the new link to Heathrow.
It also poses a new route for Sligo supporters who will travel to London in two weeks for the opening round of the Connacht senior football championship meeting between the two.
