The Government is set to approve a bill to rubber stamp legislation which will bring into effect a windfall tax on energy companies.
The legislation will consist of two parts and will result in gains for revenue of between 280 and 600 million euro being collected.
The Minister for the Environment Eamonn Ryan says it's intended that the legislation will be enacted before the summer recess with the first funds due to be collected in September of this year.
