Castlebar native Dawn Doherty is to be honoured as Mayo Woman of the Year by the Mayo society in New York tonight.
The event takes place at Antun’s Queens in New York City.
Daughter of Joe and Maryanne Doherty, Maryland, Castlebar, Dawn is proudly flying the Mayo flag high in New York with her music school the Dawn Doherty Academy of Irish Music and Singing located in Yonkers.
A talented traditional Irish singer and musician herself, Dawn received the Irish American Community Service Award by the American Irish Association of Westchester, New York, last year.
