Well known community activist in Castlerea, Danny Burke is to be presented with a Bene Merenti Medal by Bishop Kevin Doran for his long-standing association and work with the Elphin diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes.
The special ceremony will take place this Sunday at 12 noon Mass in Castlerea.
The Bene Merenti Medal is a medal awarded by the Pope to members of the clergy and laity for service to the Catholic Church.
Danny has also been synonymous with Castlerea GAA and Roscommon GAA for many decades.
The former postman is also a long serving member of the Castlerea Brass and Reed Band.
