Yesterday morning, broadband connections across the Ballina and Glenamoy regions collapsed.
This left 14,000 people without an internet connection, according to Sinn Féin TD Rose Conway-Walsh.
The Mayo Deputy informed Midwest Radio that she contacted the Eir providers on this matter, and no explanation has been given as of yet as to why this has happened.
ATM machines and those working from home were among those directly affected by the outage.
According to Deputy Conway-Walsh, the dependency that people have on broadband on this day and age is as important as electricity in the past.
She is calling for compensation and an apology to be issued by air to their customers on this matter.
The service is expected to be up and running again at 3:00PM today.
