An inquiry into the State's handling of the covid-19 crisis is to be set up before the end of the summer.

The Irish Times reports decisions around what form it would take, who would chair it, and if sessions would be held in public have yet to be made.

Government sources told the paper the purpose of the inquiry is not to find fault with any person or body in particular, but to inform the response to future public health emergencies.
