400 thousand people who paid rent in 2022 can avail of the 500 euro tax credit, but just 154 thousand renters have done so to date, according to the Irish Examiner.
The scheme has been described as ineffective by Labour leader Ivana Bacik, who's calling for it be extended to the 10 per cent of renters whose home is not registered with the Residential Tenancies Board.
