The HSE's being accused of failing to take the initiative to solve high Eye-care Waiting Lists.
Optometry Ireland says optometrists are immediately able to provide a planned scheme for over 8s in all regions across the country.
It says the waiting list for eye-care remains unacceptably high at over 42,300.
