A protest is planned outside Mayo University Hospital on Saturday (Feb 25th) at 1 pm.
It is being organised by a former Castlebar councillor, Harry Barrett, and will call for an end to the current trolley crisis at the hospital.
With more than 20 patients on trolleys at MUH some days earlier this week, Harry insists that the practice is unacceptable and is causing undue hardship and suffering to people who have to wait for hours to access basic health care.
He says a protest is necessary to highlight that the ED at the hospital is not fit for purpose and is urging the public to attend so that a message goes out to senior HSE management that the current level of service is potentially dangerous and harmful.
