The two men that died in Wednesday night’s fatal road traffic accident in Claremorris have been named locally.
Stephen Brennan, 25, from Bohola and Martin Murphy, 27, from Knock died when the silver Volkswagen Golf they were travelling in collided with an articulated truck.
The crash happened on the N60, between Claremorris and Balla, shortly before midnight on Wednesday.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck (30s) was taken to Mayo University Hospital as a precaution.
Gardaí conducted a forensic examination of the road yesterday and are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.

Stephen’s remains will repose at his home in Lismirrane on Saturday evening from 6pm until 10pm and on Sunday from 4pm until 7pm.
Funeral mass will take place on Monday at 12 noon in St. Joseph’s Church Bohola.
The funeral arrangements for Martin Murphy have not been announced yet.
