€4.5m has been allocated for 46 Active Travel projects in Mayo.
The funding will be used for a variety of projects aimed at improving pedestrian and cycling infrastructure in Mayo.
The news has been confirmed by Mayo Fine Gael Deputy Michael Ring.
Deputy Ring says the Active Travel funding will ensure that the Safe Routes to School programme will continue to provide safer cycling and walking facilities for many more schools.
