The long awaited preferred route for the N17 stretching from Knock to Collooney has been published today.

Kilkelly based Fianna Fail councillor John Caulfield has for sometime been highlighting the problems the delay in publishing the preferred route has been causing landowners along the route, whose land was sterilised as a result.

Choosing a preferred route for this stretch of road, across two counties – Mayo and Sligo, has been a protractive process, underway since 2008.
