TDs may be given funding of up to 5 thousand euro for personal security.
It follows a spate of recent incidents where elected representatives were targeted at their offices, homes and during public meetings.
The Irish Examiner reports that proposals to see funds given to TDs and Senators who are thought to be at 'high-risk' of attacks, are awaiting sign-off by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.
