The shortage of medicines in Ireland continues to increase with figures revealing that a further 12 medicines are out of stock bringing the total to 224, among the additional medicines to go out-of-stock in the past week are Phenytoin which is used to treat epilepsy.
The medicines experiencing shortages are for use across a range of health areas, including respiratory and bacterial infections, strep throat, pneumonia, pain relief and blood pressure.
The figures from Azure Pharmaceuticals found that common medicines such as Amoxicillin and Penicillin, used to treat bacterial infections are currently unavailable from any supplier or source.
