€11,106,438 was the exact sum scooped up by one lucky winner of the National Lottery draw on Wednesday, January 4.
The ticket was sold on the day of the draw in Kelly’s Costcutter in Foynes. County Limerick.
The store is operated by natives of Killala, brother and sister duo Eoin and Trisha, who took over from their parents Vincent and Brenda in 2018.
Once the news broke where the ticket was sold, the owners said they “frantically checked our own tickets”, according to the Irish Mirror.
Soon realizing they weren’t to be the winners themselves, they continued to say that the fact the lucky ticket was sold in their store “was the next best thing to winning the jackpot.”
