A Westport councillor has called for an investigation into a tilt in the road towards the water on the route out to Roman Island.
Roman Island is located immediately to the west of Westport Quay. It is no longer an island, as it is now linked by a causeway to the mainland at the quay.
It is a busy route with a factory, a coastguard station, a sports pitch and the Clew Bay Heritage Centre, all located along it.
Fine Gael councillor Peter Flynn highlighted the issue at a recent West Mayo Municipal district meeting.
Recently, he says, a van slipped but was luckily caught by a bollard, which stopped it going into the tide.
The councillor has asked Mayo County Council to investigate the road structure.
