There are unconfirmed reports that the Headquarters of the NWRA (The Northern and Western Regional Assembly) located on the Square in Ballaghaderreen is moving location.
The reason for leaving the premises has not been forthcoming from the NWRA, however, Midwest News understands that renovation works are needed on the building in order to comply with Health and Safety regulations.
Midwest News has contacted the NWRA for clarification but we have not received a response.
There are 18 people employed at the location and it’s understood that some will be located to a temporary facility in the town and others may be working from home.
The NWRA is made up of 25 elected members nominated by the 9 local authorities within the region.
They generally meet monthly in Ballaghaderreen, however, they will instead, meet in Aras an Chontae in Roscommon until the situation is resolved.
