Farmers will be banned from burning bushes, agricultural green waste, on their farms from the start of the New Year (2023).
According to today’s Farmers Journal the Department of the Environment derogation, allowing the burning of agricultural green waste such as tree trimmings on farms, ceases on 1st January next.
Minister Eamon Ryan has previously insisted that no derogation is to be given for 2023, and a feasibility study examining alternatives to burning has only just begun.
No completion date for this study has been given, despite the fact that the derogation will cease within weeks.
Sustainability Specialist, Siobhan Walsh who wrote today’s story for the farmers Journal told Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley why bush burning on farms will be banned by the end of this year..
