Belmullet had the joint highest median age for property purchases last year of 52, according to the Central Statistics Office.
Corca Duibhne and Kenmare in Kerry joined Belmullet at top spot in their category.
In comparison, the lowest median age for property purchases was 34 in the areas of Ballyfermot-Drimna and Tallaght Centre in Dublin as well as Leixlip, Kildare.
The highest median price for a joint property purchase was in the Pembroke area with transaction prices up on €880,000. The Ballybay – Clones area of Monaghan had the lowest at €127,000.
According to CSO statistics in a graphic from the Irish Times, the majority of Mayo, Sligo and Roscommon are around the €200,000 mark – with western areas of Galway being further towards €400,000.
